The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 is the flip foldable that the newer Z Flip7 has since replaced, now a value buy at a reduced price. It folds shut to a compact 85.1mm square and adds the larger battery and improved main camera Samsung's earlier flips lacked.

Z Flip6: Display

The 6.7-inch foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X runs at 120Hz with a 1080 x 2640 resolution and measured 1,475 nits of maximum brightness in GSMArena's lab test, with the 2,600-nit peak reserved for HDR content.

The internal panel has a plastic front, softer than glass, and the 3.4-inch cover screen runs at only 60Hz, slower than the 165Hz cover displays on Motorola's Razr foldables.

Z Flip6: Camera

The dual camera pairs a 50MP main sensor with OIS and a 12MP ultrawide, with a 10MP selfie camera inside, and video reaches 4K at 60fps. The move to a 50MP main sensor is the clearest upgrade over earlier Flips.

There is no telephoto lens, so zoom relies on crops from the main sensor, and it trails bar phones at the price for reach.

Z Flip6: Battery

The 4,000mAh battery returned an active use score of 10:35 hours in GSMArena's lab, with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging.

That endurance is short by any modern standard, a consequence of the small cell the flip format allows, and 25W charging is slow, so heavy users should expect a midday top-up.

Z Flip6: Size, Weight and Build

Unfolded, the phone is 165.1 x 71.9 x 6.9mm; folded, it is 85.1 x 71.9 x 14.9mm at 187g, with an Armor aluminium frame and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 back, in seven colours including Yellow and Mint.

The IP48 rating handles water immersion but only blocks dust above 1mm, a step behind the IP68 sealing on conventional flagships.

Z Flip6: Performance

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with 12GB of RAM and UFS 4.0 storage delivers genuine flagship speed, and the phone launched on Android 14 with One UI 6.1.1, since updated to newer versions.

The chip is a generation behind the newest flagships, and Samsung's software window for this model is shorter than the seven-upgrade commitment on its current Galaxy S range.
