The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 is Samsung's current clamshell foldable, built for buyers who want a 6.9-inch phone that folds down to fit a small pocket or bag. At 180g and 6.1mm unfolded it is lighter and slimmer than the 188g, 6.5mm Galaxy Z Flip7 it replaces, and it steps up to a 2nm Exynos 2600 chipset.
Galaxy Z Flip8: Display
The main screen is a 6.9-inch foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X running at 120Hz with a 1080 x 2520 resolution, and the 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover display carries the same 120Hz refresh while being rated at 2600 nits peak for HDR content. The pairing means many quick tasks such as replies, payments and camera framing can be handled on the front panel without opening the phone.
The main panel is covered by a plastic protective layer rather than glass, which is standard for a folding screen but leaves a visible crease down the centre and a softer surface than a conventional glass flagship.
Galaxy Z Flip8: Camera
The rear pairing is a 50MP f/1.8 wide with optical stabilisation alongside a 12MP ultrawide, with video up to 4K at 60fps, and the folding design lets you prop the phone half-open for hands-free shots framed on the cover screen. The 10MP front camera should cover video calls and standard selfies.
There is no dedicated telephoto lens, so any zoom beyond the main sensor is digital only, and the camera hardware carries over largely unchanged from the Galaxy Z Flip7.
Galaxy Z Flip8: Battery
The 4300mAh battery matches the Galaxy Z Flip7 and is rated for 25W wired charging, which Samsung quotes at 55% in 30 minutes, plus 15W wireless and 4.5W reverse wireless for topping up earbuds or a watch.
25W is slow next to the 45W wired charging on the Motorola Razr+ 2026, and because the Flip8 has not yet been through independent battery testing its real-world endurance is unconfirmed. The Flip7 posted an active use score of around 11 hours 52 minutes in GSMArena's lab testing, which offers a rough guide given the identical capacity.
Galaxy Z Flip8: Size, Weight and Build
Folded, the Flip8 measures 85.7 x 75.4 x 13.1mm and weighs 180g, so it should slip into a pocket more easily than a full-size bar phone, and the build combines a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 back with an aluminium frame. It comes in Graphite, Cream, Pink and Mint.
The IP48 rating covers water immersion but only guards against solid particles larger than 1mm, so it is less sealed against fine dust than the IP68 bar phones at this price, and the folding hinge remains a moving part that needs looking after over time.
Galaxy Z Flip8: Performance
The 2nm Exynos 2600 with Xclipse 960 graphics and 12GB of RAM should handle everyday apps and multitasking comfortably, and storage runs to 256GB or 512GB on UFS 4.x with no card slot. It ships on Android 17 with One UI 9 and up to seven major OS upgrades from launch, a support window that is still active.
Samsung uses its own Exynos silicon here rather than a Qualcomm Snapdragon, which some buyers avoid on past efficiency concerns, and as an untested launch device its sustained performance under load is not yet verified.
Galaxy Z Flip8: Who Should Buy
The Galaxy Z Flip8 suits someone who values a genuinely pocketable phone and a usable cover screen, and is willing to accept a two-camera system and modest 25W charging to get the folding form. Buyers upgrading from an older Galaxy Z Flip should notice the lighter, slimmer body and newer chipset most. Buyers comparing on contract length or upfront cost will find current network pricing in the table above.
