How we compare phone deals

Mobile Phone Finder ranks handset contracts using consistent criteria designed to reflect overall value across the full minimum term.

Our approach focuses on total cost rather than headline monthly pricing.

What we consider when ranking deals

Each deal is assessed using the following factors:

  • Total cost over the full contract term
  • Upfront payment
  • Monthly price
  • Included data allowance
  • Network availability
  • Incentives such as gift cards or bundled accessories

Where total costs are identical, we prioritise lower upfront payments and higher data allowances.

Why total contract cost matters

Mobile contracts are often advertised using low monthly figures that do not reflect the full cost over the minimum term.

By calculating the complete contract cost, we allow users to compare offers on a consistent and transparent basis.

This makes it easier to compare deals on a like-for-like basis rather than relying on headline monthly figures.

The popular deals shown on our homepage, manufacturer pages and network pages are selected in two steps.

First we identify the handsets our UK users have clicked through to most often over the previous 21 days. We show one deal per phone family, so colours and storage sizes of the same model are grouped together rather than filling the list.

We then show the cheapest available deal for each of those handsets, measured by total cost across the full contract term rather than by monthly price. The handset is chosen by popularity. The deal is chosen by price. Commission plays no part in either step.

Pricing updates

Deal listings are refreshed regularly throughout the day using automated pricing feeds from retailers and networks.

While we aim for accuracy, pricing and stock can change quickly. Final terms should always be confirmed directly with the retailer before completing a purchase.

Commercial transparency

Mobile Phone Finder earns commission when users click through to a retailer and complete a purchase.

Commission does not determine ranking position, and we do not manually reorder deals based on payout level.

Our goal is to present deals clearly and consistently, without promotional placement.
