The TCL NxtPaper 70 Pro is a mid-range Android phone built around TCL's matte NxtPaper display, aimed at buyers who read or write for long stretches and want less glare and eye strain than a glossy screen. It pairs that paper-like 6.9-inch panel with stylus support and an IP68 rating, an unusual combination in this price bracket.
NxtPaper 70 Pro: Display
The 6.9-inch screen is an IPS LCD running at 120Hz with a 1080 x 2340 resolution and up to 900 nits of typical brightness, finished with TCL's matte NxtPaper coating over Asahi Glass rated to Mohs level 5. The anti-glare surface is the main draw, aimed at cutting reflections for reading and note-taking with the stylus.
Because it is an LCD rather than an AMOLED, it cannot produce the deep blacks or per-pixel contrast of the AMOLED screen on the Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G, so films and dark scenes look flatter, and the matte finish slightly softens fine detail next to a glossy panel.
NxtPaper 70 Pro: Camera
The rear camera is a dual setup: a 50MP f/1.9 wide with optical stabilisation and an 8MP ultrawide, recording video up to 4K at 30fps, with a 32MP front camera for selfies. The stabilised main sensor should be the one to lean on as light drops.
There is no telephoto lens, so zoom is digital only, and the 8MP ultrawide is a much lower-resolution sensor than the main camera, so detail falls away noticeably when you switch to it.
NxtPaper 70 Pro: Battery
The 5200mAh battery is large for the class, and the EU energy label rates it at 68 hours 25 minutes of endurance, though the phone has not been through GSMArena's own battery testing. Wired charging runs at 33W.
There is no wireless charging, and at 33W the phone refills more slowly than the 68W wired and 15W wireless charging on the Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G, so top-ups take longer despite the larger cell here.
NxtPaper 70 Pro: Size, Weight and Build
At 169.4 x 80.1 x 8mm and 208g this is a large phone, with a glass front, plastic back and plastic frame, and the IP68 rating means it is fully dust tight and can be immersed in water. It comes in Nebula Gold and Stellar Blue.
At 208g it is heavier than the 191g Moto G Stylus 5G, the plastic back and frame are more functional than premium next to metal-framed rivals, and the colour choice is limited to two.
NxtPaper 70 Pro: Performance
The Dimensity 7300 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage should handle everyday apps, browsing and stylus note-taking without trouble, and a microSDXC card slot lets you expand storage further, which many rivals now leave out. It ships on Android 16.
The Dimensity 7300 is a mid-tier chip, so the most demanding 3D games will need reduced settings, and the USB-C port runs at the older 2.0 speed, which makes wired file transfers slow.
NxtPaper 70 Pro: Who Should Buy
The NxtPaper 70 Pro suits a reader, student or note-taker who wants a big matte, glare-resistant screen and a bundled stylus, and does not mind LCD contrast or slower 33W charging to get them. Anyone who watches a lot of video or wants faster charging and an AMOLED panel should look at the Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G instead.
