The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the flagship model in Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold8 range, aimed at buyers who want the largest screen and the fullest camera system in a book-style foldable. It sits above the standard Galaxy Z Fold8 with a taller 8.0-inch main display and a triple camera that adds a 3x telephoto the cheaper model leaves out.
The main screen is an 8.0-inch foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X running at 120Hz with a high 2256 x 2504 resolution, and a 6.5-inch 120Hz cover screen handles quick tasks while the phone is closed. That inner panel is both larger and sharper than the 7.6-inch, 1828 x 2448 screen on the standard Galaxy Z Fold8.
The 3000 nits Samsung quotes is a peak figure for HDR content rather than a sustained brightness, so everyday outdoor levels will be lower, and the unfolded panel keeps a plastic protective layer with a central crease that is more prone to marking than the glass cover screen.
The rear camera is a triple system led by a 200MP f/1.7 wide with optical stabilisation, joined by a 10MP 3x telephoto and a 50MP ultrawide, with video up to 8K at 30fps. The telephoto gives genuine optical reach that the dual-camera standard Fold8 cannot match.
That telephoto is the same 10MP, 3x lens used on the Galaxy Z Fold7, so long-range zoom detail may not move on much from the previous generation, and there is no higher-magnification periscope for distant subjects.

For reference, the Galaxy Z Fold7 and its smaller 4400mAh cell posted an active use score of around 11 hours 44 minutes in GSMArena's lab, and the larger battery here has room to improve on that.
Folded, the Fold8 Ultra measures 158.4 x 72.8 x 8.9mm and weighs 215g, matching the footprint of the Galaxy Z Fold7, and the build pairs a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 back and aluminium frame with Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 on the cover. It comes in Graphite, Cream and Violet Shadow.
Despite the Ultra name the rating is only IP48, which covers water immersion but guards against solid particles no smaller than 1mm rather than fine dust, and at 215g it is heavier to hold than the 201g standard Fold8.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with Adreno 840 graphics and up to 16GB of RAM should handle heavy multitasking and Samsung DeX desktop use comfortably, with storage from 256GB to 1TB on UFS 4.x. It ships on Android 17 with One UI 9 and up to seven major OS upgrades from launch, a support window that is still active.
As an untested launch device its sustained performance and heat management under load are not yet verified, and with no card slot the storage tier chosen at purchase is fixed for the life of the phone.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra suits a buyer who wants the biggest folding screen, the telephoto reach and the largest battery in the range, and is willing to carry the heaviest model to get them. Anyone who can do without the zoom lens or prefers a lighter phone should look at the standard Galaxy Z Fold8, while those upgrading from an older Galaxy Z Fold will feel the faster charging and sharper display most.
