The Samsung Galaxy S24+ is the middle model in Samsung's current Galaxy S range, sitting between the standard Galaxy S24 and the larger Galaxy S24 Ultra. It has a 6.7-inch screen, weighs 196 to 197 grams, and is the first Plus-sized Galaxy with a sharp high-resolution display since the Galaxy S20+ in 2020.
Galaxy S24+: Display
The 6.7-inch OLED screen is sharper than the panel on the standard Galaxy S24 and matches the Ultra for clarity. It runs at up to 120Hz for smooth scrolling and animations, and in GSMArena's lab test it was bright enough to stay readable in direct sunlight. The trade-off is against the Ultra, which adds an anti-glare coating on tougher glass that further cuts reflections outdoors.
Galaxy S24+: Camera
The rear camera is a three-lens setup: a 50-megapixel main camera with stabilisation to reduce blur, a 3x optical zoom, and an ultrawide for landscapes and group shots. The main limit is reach: the 3x zoom cannot get as close as the Galaxy S24 Ultra's 5x zoom, which matters for distant subjects and cropping without losing quality. The ultrawide is also unchanged from the previous generation, so this is not a camera upgrade for buyers moving up from the Galaxy S23+.
Galaxy S24+: Battery
The 4,900mAh battery lasted 12 and a half hours in GSMArena's lab test, enough for a full day of mixed use for most buyers. Samsung rates the phone for 45W fast charging (reaching 65% in about half an hour) and 15W wireless charging. One thing to know: no plug is included in the box, and the supplied cable cannot deliver full charging speed. A separate 5A-rated cable and charger are needed to reach the real peak of around 42W.
Galaxy S24+: Size, Weight and Build
At 158.5 x 75.9 x 7.7mm and 196 to 197 grams, the S24+ is noticeably larger and heavier than the standard Galaxy S24 (147 x 70.6 x 7.6mm, 167 to 168 grams). Build is glass front and back with an aluminium frame, and the phone is IP68-rated: dust-tight and water-resistant to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes. The trade-off for the bigger screen and battery is that one-handed use is harder than on the standard S24.
Galaxy S24+: Performance
The chip inside depends on where the phone is sold. UK and most international units use Samsung's Exynos 2400, while US, Canadian and Chinese units use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Everyday performance is broadly similar between the two. All versions come with 12GB of memory and a choice of 256GB or 512GB of storage. Samsung promised seven years of major software updates and seven years of security patches from launch; two updates have been delivered, taking the phone to One UI 8.0, with five more to come.
Galaxy S24+: Who Should Buy
The Galaxy S24+ suits buyers who want a large, sharp flagship screen and top-tier performance without the size, weight or spend of the Ultra, and who do not need the Ultra's longer 5x zoom. For those on older Galaxy S phones, the sharper 120Hz screen, bigger battery and seven-year update promise make this a clear upgrade. Buyers who want the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite at the same screen size should compare the Galaxy S25+. Compare networks on contract length and upfront cost in the table above.
