The Nokia 225 4G (2024) is a basic 4G feature phone for buyers who want calls, texts and long gaps between charges rather than apps. Compared with the 2020 Nokia 225 4G, it moves to USB-C charging and a larger 1,450mAh battery while keeping the same 2.4-inch screen and physical keypad.

Nokia 225 4G (2024): Display

The 2.4-inch TFT LCD runs at 240 x 320 pixels, which is enough for menus, contacts and text messages on a keypad phone of this size.

It is a small, low-resolution panel and an LCD rather than OLED, so photos, maps and anything beyond basic text will look limited. Buyers who want to read or watch content on their phone will need a smartphone instead.

Nokia 225 4G (2024): Camera

A 0.3MP rear camera with an LED flash covers the occasional snap and basic video recording.

There is no front camera, and 0.3MP is far below even entry-level smartphones, so this is not a phone for keeping family photos or making video calls.

Nokia 225 4G (2024): Battery

The removable 1,450mAh battery is 300mAh larger than the 1,150mAh cell in the 2020 model, and with a small screen and no apps running in the background it should go longer between charges than a typical smartphone. Being removable, it can also be swapped for a spare.

The move to USB-C means buyers coming from the 2020 model or another older Nokia with a microUSB port will need a new cable, and a 1,450mAh cell is still a fraction of the capacity found in most smartphones.

Nokia 225 4G (2024): Size, Weight and Build

At 121.5 x 52 x 11.6mm, it is shorter and 2.1mm slimmer than the 13.7mm-thick 2020 model, and the physical keypad should suit buyers who find touchscreens awkward. It comes in Pink and Dark Blue.

The trade-off is choice: there are only two colour options, against three for the 2020 model, and the compact keypad layout leaves little room for the screen.

Nokia 225 4G (2024): Performance

The Unisoc T107 chip, 64MB of RAM and 128MB of storage are sized for calls, SMS, the FM radio and simple games, with a microSDHC slot for music files. Dual nano-SIM, Bluetooth 5.0 and a 3.5mm headphone jack are included.

There is no Wi-Fi or GPS, and Java apps are not supported, so it cannot stand in for the messaging, maps and banking apps on a smartphone.

Nokia 225 4G (2024): Who Should Buy

The Nokia 225 4G (2024) suits buyers who want a simple keypad phone for calls and texts, such as an older relative, a first phone for a child or a backup handset for festivals and travel. Anyone who needs messaging apps, navigation or a usable camera should choose a budget smartphone instead. Buyers comparing SIM-free and contract options will find current pricing in the table above.
