The HMD Fuse is a safety-focused smartphone designed specifically for younger users, placing online protection and parental controls ahead of raw performance or advanced features. It’s intended to act as a first smartphone, offering everyday communication and app access while helping families manage how the device is used.
Rather than feeling like a restricted or simplified “kids phone”, the Fuse is built to resemble a normal Android handset, which can make the transition to smartphone ownership feel more natural while still keeping safeguards in place.
HMD Fuse: Display
The HMD Fuse uses a 6.56-inch HD+ display with a 720 × 1612 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen size offers enough space for messaging, learning apps, and media without being difficult to handle for smaller hands.
The smoother refresh rate helps everyday interactions like scrolling and app switching feel more fluid, while brightness levels are sufficient for typical indoor and outdoor use.
HMD Fuse: Camera
The rear camera setup is led by a 108MP main sensor, paired with a 2MP depth sensor for portrait-style photos. On the front, a 50MP camera handles selfies and video calls, which is particularly useful for communication and remote learning scenarios.
The camera system is designed for clear, straightforward results rather than advanced photography controls.
HMD Fuse: Battery
Battery capacity is rated at 5,000mAh, providing enough endurance to comfortably last through a full day of typical use such as messaging, calls, and approved apps. This reduces the need for frequent charging during school days or after-school activities.
Charging support is rated at up to 33W wired, allowing the phone to be topped up relatively quickly when needed.
HMD Fuse: Size, Weight and Feel
The phone weighs around 202.5g and measures approximately 8.32mm thick. It carries an IP54 rating, offering basic protection against dust and splashes, which helps with everyday durability.
HMD Fuse: Performance
Performance is handled by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, with support for microSD expansion up to 1TB. This setup is well suited to everyday tasks such as messaging, browsing, navigation, and approved apps, while avoiding unnecessary power draw.
