The 6.3-inch LTPO OLED runs at 120Hz with a sharp 1280 x 2856 resolution, and GSMArena measured an exceptional 2,331 nits of maximum brightness in its lab test, among the brightest screens it has tested. The 3,000-nit figure is a peak HDR rating.
The Gorilla Glass Victus 2 front carries a Mohs level 4 hardness rating, and Google ran an extended repair programme for display issues on some units, worth noting when buying used.
The triple camera pairs a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 48MP periscope with 5x optical zoom and OIS, and a 48MP ultrawide, with a 42MP selfie camera. This is the same Pro camera hardware as the larger Pixel 9 Pro XL, so photographic results are identical between the two.
Video tops out at 4K natively (8K is cloud-upscaled rather than captured), but Google's processing keeps it among the best point-and-shoot cameras available.
The 4,700mAh battery returned an active use score of 13:11 hours in GSMArena's lab, with 27W wired, 21W wireless via Pixel Stand and reverse wireless charging.
27W wired charging is slow for a flagship, well behind the 80W-plus systems on rivals, so overnight or wireless charging suits it best.
At 152.8 x 72 x 8.5mm and 199g with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both faces, an aluminium frame and IP68 sealing, the Pixel 9 Pro is genuinely pocketable in a way most flagships are not, in four colours including Rose Quartz and Hazel.
The compact size is also the trade-off, delivering less battery capacity than larger flagships with similar screens.
The Tensor G4 with 16GB of RAM prioritises Google's on-device AI features over raw benchmark speed, and the phone carries a commitment to up to seven major Android upgrades, now running Android 16 with years of support left.
The Tensor G4 trails the fastest Snapdragon and Dimensity chips on benchmarks and can run warm, and storage is older UFS 3.1, so this is not the phone for buyers who chase peak performance.
Buy the Pixel 9 Pro if you want a genuinely compact flagship with a top-tier camera and long software support, especially at post-launch prices. Buyers who want the same cameras on a bigger screen and battery should look at the Pixel 9 Pro XL. Buyers comparing contract terms will find current network pricing in the table above.
