The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is Google's book-style foldable, opening to an 8-inch tablet-sized screen and running Google's software and camera processing across both displays. It pairs a genuinely usable 6.3-inch cover screen with the Pixel line's seven-year update commitment.

9 Pro Fold: Display

The 8-inch foldable LTPO OLED runs at 120Hz with a 2076 x 2152 resolution, and GSMArena measured 2,199 nits of maximum brightness in its lab test, excellent for a foldable. The 6.3-inch cover screen is a full 120Hz OLED under Gorilla Glass Victus 2, large enough to use as a normal phone when closed.

The inner screen has a plastic front, softer than the cover glass, which is the standing care point of the book-fold format.

9 Pro Fold: Camera

The triple camera pairs a 48MP main sensor with OIS, a 10.8MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom and OIS, and a 10.5MP ultrawide, with matching 10MP cameras inside and on the cover. Google's processing keeps results strong despite the smaller sensors foldables require.

The sensors are physically smaller than those in the non-folding Pixel 9 Pro, so low-light results trail the standard Pro, and video tops out at 4K.

9 Pro Fold: Battery

The 4,650mAh battery returned an active use score of 11:54 hours in GSMArena's lab, with 21W wired and 7.5W wireless charging.

Endurance is modest, since two large screens draw heavily on the capacity, and 21W wired charging is slow, so this is not a phone for long days away from power.

9 Pro Fold: Size, Weight and Build

Unfolded, the phone is just 5.1mm thick; folded, it is 155.2 x 77.1 x 10.5mm at 257g, with an aluminium frame and an IPX8 water resistance rating. Colours are Obsidian and Porcelain.

At 257g it is heavy in the hand and pocket, and the IPX8 rating covers water but carries no dust protection, a real consideration for a hinged device.

9 Pro Fold: Performance

The Tensor G4 with 16GB of RAM powers Google's multitasking and AI features across the large screen, and the phone carries a commitment to up to seven major Android upgrades, now running Android 16.

The Tensor G4 trails the fastest chips on benchmarks and can run warm, and storage is older UFS 3.1, so raw speed is not this phone's strength.

9 Pro Fold: Who Should Buy

Buy the Pixel 9 Pro Fold if you want a tablet-sized screen with Google's software and camera processing, and a cover screen good enough to use closed. Buyers who prioritise camera quality or battery life over the folding format should consider the non-folding Pixel 9 Pro, which has larger sensors and better endurance.
