The Apple iPhone Duo is Apple's first foldable iPhone, pairing a 5.4-inch cover screen with a 7.6-inch inner display for buyers who want one device that works as both a phone and a compact tablet. Opened up, that inner panel is larger than the 6.9-inch screen on the iPhone 18 Pro Max, yet folded it closes to a short, wide 117.8 x 84.1mm footprint.
iPhone Duo: Display
Both screens are 120Hz LTPO OLED panels rated for 1,000 nits typical and 1,600 nits in high brightness mode outdoors, with the 3,000-nit peak reserved for HDR. The inner panel adds a matte nano-texture finish, and stylus support makes it look well placed for note-taking and markup.
The trade-off is a small crease on the inner display, and the nano-texture finish does not extend to the cover screen.
iPhone Duo: Camera
The rear pairs a 48MP main camera with sensor-shift stabilisation and a 48MP ultrawide, with 4K video up to 120fps in Dolby Vision HDR and ProRes.
There is no telephoto lens. The iPhone 18 Pro Max adds a 48MP periscope with 4x optical zoom, so anyone who regularly shoots distant subjects gives that up here. The under-display camera on the inner screen is also limited to 1080p video.
iPhone Duo: Battery
Wired charging is rated to reach 50% in 20 minutes, while 25W MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging reaches 50% in 30 minutes.
The Pro Max charges faster over a cable, reaching 50% in 15 minutes, and already has a GSMArena active use score of 19 hours 20 minutes. Buyers who rank endurance first may prefer to wait for independent battery testing of the Duo, which powers two displays from a much thinner body.
iPhone Duo: Size, Weight and Build
At 254g, the Duo is only 5g heavier than the Pro Max. It has a grade 5 titanium frame and hinge, Ceramic Shield 2 cover glass and IP68 water resistance, and measures 5.2mm thick when open.
Folded, it is 11.3mm thick against 8.8mm for the Pro Max, and colours are limited to Night Sky and Star White. It is also eSIM only, so buyers on a physical SIM will need their network to issue an eSIM.
iPhone Duo: Performance
The Duo uses the same A20 Pro chip and 7-core GPU as the Pro Max, with 12GB of RAM across every storage option from 256GB to 2TB, which should leave headroom for running two apps side by side. It launches on iOS 27, at the start of its software support window.
There is no Face ID. Unlocking uses a side-mounted fingerprint sensor instead, which owners used to Face ID will need to adjust to.
iPhone Duo: Who Should Buy
The iPhone Duo suits iPhone users who want a tablet-sized workspace for documents, split-screen apps and stylus notes, and who are happy to give up a telephoto lens and Face ID to get it. Anyone who wants the strongest camera and proven battery life in the current range should choose the iPhone 18 Pro Max instead. Buyers weighing upfront cost against contract length will find current network pricing in the table above.
